How to stay cool without breaking the bank this summer

The sun is finally shining, the days are longer, and the vibes are just right! Time for the beach, right?! – Yes! However, summer can also bring those scorching expenses that leave us feeling a bit burned out, financially speaking.

Here are some tips to help you keep your cool while saving those hard-earned dollars.

1.     Thrifty Threads for Summer Swag: Let's kick things off with some fashion flair, shall we? Summer style doesn't have to break the bank. Hit up your local thrift stores or organize a clothes swap with your pals. You'll find unique pieces that'll make you stand out while keeping your wallet happy. You can also utilize apps such as Mercardi, Poshmark, and Facebook Marketplace to shop for clothes, or, sell you own! Clean out your own closet and list those items you no longer want for some extra cash in your pocket. My daughter is a pro at this!!

2.     Picnic Perfection: Who needs fancy restaurants when you can have a delightful picnic in the park? Pack up some tasty treats, a cozy blanket, and soak in the sunshine without the hefty bill. Bonus points for supporting local farmers' markets for fresh, budget-friendly goodies.

3.     DIY Summer Fun: Get your creative juices flowing with some DIY projects! From homemade popsicles to crafting your own outdoor games, there's no limit to the fun you can have while saving a bundle. Plus, it's a fantastic way to bond with family and friends. My son is creating his own cornhole game as I write this for our family reunion.

4.     Staycation Splendor: Who says you have to jet off to an exotic locale to have a fabulous time? With the nice weather in your area, embrace the staycation life and explore your own city or town like a tourist. Check out free events, hit up local attractions, or simply relax at home with a movie marathon – the choice is yours! Hiking is one of my past-times!

5.     Sun-Kissed Savings on Energy: With the temperatures rising, so does our energy bill. Keep cool without breaking the bank by being mindful of your energy usage. Opt for fans over air conditioning when possible, and don't forget to unplug those electronics when they're not in use. Close your blinds in the middle of the day to help keep out the heat. Your wallet will thank you!

6.     Sustainable Summer: Let's show Mother Earth some love while we're at it, shall we? Embrace sustainable living by reducing, reusing, and recycling whenever possible. Whether it's using reusable water bottles, shopping locally, or composting, small eco-friendly changes can add up to big savings in the long run.

7.     Budget-Friendly Beach Days: Ah, the beach – the ultimate summer destination! Skip the pricey beachfront resorts and opt for budget-friendly alternatives. Pack your own snacks, sunscreen, and beach gear, and you'll be all set for a day of sun, sand, and savings.

Summer is all about savoring the simple joys in life without the financial stress. By embracing these savvy savings tips, you'll be able to bask in the summer sunshine without burning through your budget. So go ahead, soak it all in — you deserve it!
