It’s the time of year we are doing a lot of shopping online. First, it’s back to school sales, next the holiday shopping that starts earlier and earlier. Case in point, the Christmas displays that hit the stores before we celebrate Halloween.

However, with this convenience comes the responsibility of ensuring secure transactions. If you love the convenience of online shopping, make sure you protect yourself online from credit card theft, fraud, scams, and sometimes yourself.

Choose Trusted Websites

Before making any online purchase, ensure you're on a reputable and secure website. Look for "https://" in the website's URL, which indicates a secure connection. Additionally, research the website's reviews and ratings to gauge its legitimacy.

Use Strong Passwords

Creating strong, unique passwords for your online shopping accounts is a must. Avoid using easily guessable passwords or reusing passwords across multiple accounts. Incorporate a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters for added security. If you are determined to use a password that you can remember over multiple accounts, start that password with the website name.
