Advice from Dad
Father’s Day is on Sunday. Therefore, I’d like to give a shout out to my dad, Chuck Fourtner, who has been there for me through the good times and bad. He taught me how to think for myself, stand up for what I believe, and care for the people who surround me. Dad has supported me through my hardest and most painful moments in my life. He has also pushed me to reach for what I sometimes felt was unattainable. I am blessed to have a father who loves me unconditionally!
One of the ways Dad taught me to care for myself was to teach me how to invest in myself. Here are a few pieces of advice from Chuck Fourtner that have enhanced my life over the last 50 years.
Spend less than you earn!
Credit Cards: Pay off credit cards monthly, if you can’t do that don’t use a credit card!
Invest wisely: Research companies you find interesting. Invest in stocks that are financially sound and hold them long-term.
Stay Curious: Take the time to learn about your world, including financial concepts. Financial literacy is a valuable skill that empowers you to make informed decisions and protect your financial well-being.
Plan for the future: Set long-term financial goals and create a plan to achieve them. Whether it's buying a house, starting a business, or saving for retirement, having a clear roadmap can keep you focused and motivated.
Create your own Happiness! Life is short and can be as interesting as we want to make it.
Be yourself — That is more than enough!
Thank you, Dad!!
